Last year there were 12-15 feral (wild) cats living in an older rural residential area. As the senior gentleman who fed them told us – he enjoyed seeing the kittens every year. But then they always disappeared. With the help of PAWS, there are no kittens this spring. No suffering.
PAWS set up an account at a local veterinary clinic, and he trapped cats and took them to the vet for spay and neuter. Twelve have been altered, and there are three to go. He continues to feed, but now there are no kittens being born, just to suffer and die. The cats are healthier, and continue to provide rodent removal.
This one example shows what one person can do, with some help, and it makes a huge impact. By himself, he was able to feed, but could not afford the cost of getting the cats altered. Working with PAWS, together, we made a huge difference.
The point being – if this 80 plus year old gentleman, with the help of a local rescue, can make this big of a difference, what is preventing you from doing the same, or more?
When one female can have three-four litters a year of four-six kittens, and if half of them survive, and grow up to reproduce……….he has prevented the birth of hundreds of kittens. Most would not have survived. They would have died painful deaths. All that was prevented.
BECAUSE he did what he was able to do, and when the help was offered, he accepted it.
Again, what are you able to do? And as we all know:
SPAY AND NEUTER IS THE ANSWER!
