About PAWS

Paws and Whiskers Society (P.A.W.S.) is a local nonprofit dedicated to helping animals in Cottage Grove, Oregon and nearby rural communities through financial assistance for spay and neuter procedures. We are guided by a dedicated board, committed to supporting animal welfare whose work is centered on making responsible pet care more accessible, reducing overpopulation, and supporting healthier outcomes for animals in our community.

PAWS exists to help local pet owners take an important step in caring for their animals. By offering financial assistance for spay and neuter procedures, we work to make this care more affordable and more within reach for families in Cottage Grove and surrounding rural communities.

We believe small, practical support can make a big difference. When pet owners have access to help at the right time, pet are healthier, unwanted litters are reduced, and the entire community benefits.

Our focus is simple: support local animals, support responsible pet care, and make it easier for families to do what is best for their pets.

Why Spay and Neuter Support Matters

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce pet overpopulation and support healthier outcomes for animals in our community.

It can start with just one unspayed female cat. If she has multiple litters, and her female kittens go on to reproduce as well, the population can grow at a staggering rate. In only a few years, that single cat can be connected to over 10,000 additional cats. What seems like a small delay in care can quickly turn into a much larger problem for animals, familes, and local shelters and rescue efforts.

For many people, the issue is not whether spay and neuter care is important. It is whether it feels affordable and within reach. PAWS exists to help bridge that gap by providing financial assistance for these procedures.

When more pet owners can access this care, fewer unwanted litters are born, fewer animals end up without homes, and the entire community benefits.

Just 1 unspayed female cat can lead to thousands of kittens - 13,931 cats after 4 years!
